Ethan's First "Bath"!

OK, it barely qualifies as a bath but it involved water and the intention of cleaning the little guy. Our normally mild-mannered Ethan was none too happy with his parents for making him so cold....

Ethan's a Week Old!!!

Ethan turned one week old yesterday (Sunday) at 12:36 and he seems to be getting more handsome with age. He's had quite a week with a multitude of visitors. He's had a great time with his Nana & Grandma. Uncle Kevin and cousin Danny brought over an Ozzie Smith autographed baseball yesterday and Aunt Joanne made an awesome cinnamon bread that Ethan's dad is doing his best to devour. His cousin Bridgette took a train all the way from South Bend, IN (she is a sophomore at St. Mary's College) to hang out and meet the little man. Maggie, another of Ethan's cool cousins, has been over a few times to see him and is just great with him.

Langer has been by this past week and Tim and Molly came over saturday to hang out, eat, and chill with the little man. Our friends and family are so great with him. His mom and dad took Ethan to Wrigley yesterday to introduce him to the place where his father's heart has been broken more than any other place....we hope he chooses to save himself from such pain.

Today Auntie Li is flying in to meet Ethan....we're so excited!

More to come....

Melissa and I would like to thank everybody who sent their well-wishes via email, phone (likely leaving a vm), or otherwise. It's funny how something so small can make such a difference in making a time like this that much more special. Words hardly describe how comforting it is to know how great of friends and family we have out there.

These first few days of the life of our little guy have been kind of crazy so we have regretfully been unable to respond to all of your thoughtful messages but please know that we have gotten them and they are appreciated....those of you who have gone through this or are going through this will certainly understand. People tried warning us how the concept of "free time" will become foreign to us but there is no way to truly prepare yourself.

Saturdays are great for stopping by to see Ethan if you're interested.....just give us a shout.

Ethan's Home!

Our little guy has been home for almost 24 hours....and he's been eating and sleeping for most of that time. He wasn't too keen on sleeping in the bedside crib last night so he ended up alternating between sleeping in Mom and Dad's arms for the better part of the night....but more Mom's than Dad's. That meant we got most of our sleep siting in the chair in Ethan's room.

Both Grandma(Krekorian) and Nana(Finger) have been a huge help during this whole process of getting accustomed to taking care of our little man and we don't know what we would have done without them. Uncle Kevin and Aunt Joanne visited Ethan in the hospital as did his cousins, Danny & Maggie.....they seem like perfect future babysitters. Papa also made a visit although his greatest contribution has been substituting for me at PSM which has been an enormous help. My students will have a better understanding of segments in circles(geometry) & solving quadratic equations (algebra 1) than they have had in any other part of the course!

Grandpa and Auntie Li have been keeping constant contact wanting to know how things are going with Ethan and his recovering mother, which we love. Grandpa's still recovering from triple bypass surgery but Auntie Li will be coming out to Chicago on Monday....we're so excited!

I'm sure we'll be contributing to this blog regularly so stay tuned......
